About

Richard Ammerman,
principal architect.

The architect at the top of 137 & Co., and the range behind everything it ships.

Whatever you need built, chances are it has been built here before.

137 & Co. designs, builds, and runs production software, and licenses a catalog of its own products, from Cumberland, Maryland. The same principal architect has shipped real systems across AI infrastructure, fintech, data and knowledge platforms, e-learning, blockchain, and consumer apps, and stays hands-on through every layer of a build. No chain of juniors, no agency overhead, and senior judgment on every decision.

Track record

Where the range comes from.

  1. 2025–present

    Founder & Principal Architect · 137 & Co.

Designing, building, and running the studio’s entire software ecosystem and the infrastructure beneath it, across AI, knowledge, data, fintech, simulation, gaming, and community.

  2. 2021–2024

    Technical Lead · SweetRush, Inc.

Led development of SRVO (srvo.com): designed the business logic, owned the back end and admin portal, and led two front-end engineers. Built award-winning e-learning in the Adapt.js framework and custom work for enterprise clients.

  3. 2019–2021

Acting CTO · Media organization (undisclosed)

Rebuilt the entire technical infrastructure. Migrated to distributed Docker Swarm, rebuilt the internal research and publishing tools from scratch, and integrated secure communications. Held 99.999% uptime with zero breaches on a fault-tolerant, censorship-resistant network.

  4. 2018–2021

    Owner · Ammerman Design

The first studio: full-stack development, brand and graphic design, and technical consulting under one roof.

  5. 10+ years

    Corporate Graphic Designer

Race-series branding (5K through marathon), in-store retail displays (Macy’s jewelry), and corporate collateral, with a math and logic-driven approach to design.

  6. 2011–2012

    Interactive mobile-advertising pioneer

Among the first in the country to both design and develop interactive, animated smartphone ads for Kraft, ESPN, Comcast, Audi, Acura, and SAP, all under 100KB and handled end to end.

  7. 8 years

    Blockchain developer

Proof-of-Work, Proof-of-Stake, and Masternode codebases: wallets, block explorers, and crypto-enabled applications.

How the studio works

Approach.

Everything connects

Every product shares infrastructure, auth, and a common AI layer with the next, so the ecosystem compounds instead of fragmenting.

Break it first

An old-school hacker’s instinct for security: multiple audit passes per product, OWASP-aware, and encryption at rest. Every build gets attacked in-house before anyone outside can.

Tested against reality

Strict types and validated boundaries in whatever language the job calls for. Critical flows get exercised against real services, with live integration, smoke, and end-to-end testing preferred over mocks.

Proven, not assumed

Validation by simulation: tens of thousands of game runs and multi-week behavioral harnesses. Build it, then prove it holds under load.

Infrastructure is a product

The infrastructure is built and run in-house: container orchestration, routing, monitoring, and automated deploys, held to the same standard as the software on top.

Design and code, one hand

A decade of graphic design sits next to the engineering, so the interface and the system behind it answer to the same architect.
